INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2024

8 Mar 2024

JAG celebrates women every day, and today is no exception. Established in 1972 by the powerhouse designer Adele Palmer, the brand has witnessed numerous shifts and changes over the last 50 years. We have encountered countless female designers, marketers, models, and more, consistently drawing inspiration from the remarkable accomplishments of women in the workforce.

JAG and APG & Co's CEO, Elisha Hopkinson, stands out as another influential presence in the fashion industry. Join us for a conversation as we sit down with her to chat all things IWD and #InspireInclusion.

What does International Women's Day mean to you?

International Women's Day acts as a moment for us to recognise the women who have made a difference in their field, serving as role models. The opportunity to showcase these women allows for other women to be inspired and push their own boundaries. This year's IWD theme, #InspireInclusion, personally resonates with me as the CEO of an Australian retail company, where I aspire to contribute to a world free of bias, stereotyping, and discrimination – a world where everyone is valued and celebrated, regardless of their differences. I am committed to promoting gender equality and feel it is important as we work towards closing historical gaps created by outdated views.

When do you feel most empowered?

In a corporate context, I feel empowered when I see the success of the women working alongside me, observing both individuals and groups surpassing their perceived limits, and also having the time to dream myself. Another source of empowerment for me is raising my three daughters; each day, my dedication lies in nurturing them to become strong, independent, and resilient women capable of pursuing any path they desire and becoming anyone they aspire to be.

What is your best piece of advice for women?

It's hard to nail it down to one, so I'm going to give you three.

1. Believe in yourself. 2. Being uncomfortable is just pushing your boundaries. 3. Be okay to delegate.

What do you like to wear to feel more empowered?

A well put together outfit.

How will you be spending this IWD?

I see IWD as a day to celebrate the bond of women by lifting up and empowering each other, not just today but everyday. Our APG & Co office is hosting a morning tea to celebrate all the strong, resilient, talented and unique women in our workplace.

How do you want the JAG customer to feel when wearing our product?

Lastly, what is your favourite outfit from JAG’s new AW24 collection?

We've got this divine new soft-tailored linen suiting arriving around April, the outfit I'm wearing in the International Women's Day photoshoot. I snagged a sample and can't get enough of it. It's wonderfully light and breathable, effortlessly boosting my confidence each time I wear it. You can to be notified when it lands online.
