MENS | THE ART OF LAYERING

26 Jul 2023

Layering this season is a necessity. Achieving functionality and the ultimate aesthetic for your winter ensembles can be mastered through the art of layering. The colder months can be unpredictable however, layering can easily be adapted to suit the changing climate. The anatomy of a layered look can be executed with these quick tips:

LIGHTEST TO HEAVIEST

Base layers are key when prepping your cold-weather layered attire. The idea is to keep lightweight and breathable pieces as the base layer, shirts as the inner layer, sweaters, knits, blazers and cardigans as the middle and coats as the final touch. The Organic Split Tee made from 100% cotton attributes to creating the perfect base for any ensemble. Add the Seersucker Cotton Check Shirt and finish off with The Amsterdam Parker for an on-trend look.

LAYERING FABRICS

The use of various fabrics can enhance your final ensemble by adding contrast and depth. Adding textures can be a simple way of altering the dynamic of your fit. Our low impact fabrics are environmentally conscious yet fashion-forward. Layer with texture in mind this season and pair the Wool Alpaca Crew Neck Knit with the Cotton Check Shirt. Elevate this look with the Boiled Wool Jacket in Ecru and highlight the array of incorporated textures.

SCALE YOUR PATTERNS

Incorporating patterns in your layered ensemble makes for a truly eye-catching look. When opting for a print it’s best to incorporate the smaller print on the inner layer and gradually build to a larger print on the outer layer; or vice-versa.  Style the Brushed Cotton Check Shirt with a base colour such as the Garment Dye Tee to the hero the pattern and create a standard-out ensemble. Take it to the next level with the ultimate collab on pattern and texture with the Teddy Bomber Jacket.

LAYER WITH DIFFERENT LENGTHS

Layering multiple garments often means playing with a variety of lengths. Keep your outfit on-point by making sure the hem of any other layers conceals the hem of your inner layers. Create the optimal play on length and combine the JAG Logo Terry Crewneck with the Overdyed Shirt Jacket. Add the Amsterdam Parker to enhance the overall look and show-off your layering game.
